Francona Upset Over Quick Ejection
9th August, 2009 - 10:58 am
New York Post - Red Sox manager Terry Francona expressed frustration over the ejection of pitcher Ramon Ramirez on Saturday afternoon.

Ramirez was ejected by home plate umpire Jim Joyce after hitting Alex Rodriguez with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Red Sox argued the decision, which came just a few pitches after Ramirez threw up and in to Mark Teixeira.

"I didn't understand it," Francona said. "Part of the reason I stayed out there [to argue], I was trying to figure out who was going to pitch ... I'm stunned."

Francona says that Joyce didn't consider the game situation.

"We're down two, with a runner on first and we're not scoring any runs," Francona said. "I just think this series gets too much hype and we have no ability to play the game. If guys get thrown out in that situation, we're going to have guys thrown out three or four times a week." [READ]
