White Sox Downplay Rumored Waiver Bid On Rios
10th August, 2009 - 8:21 am
Chicago Tribune - White Sox general manager Kenny Williams is downplaying rumors that the team placed a waiver claim on Alex Rios.

"I'm not confirming or denying any interest or any claims or anything," Williams said Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune. "But if these things get out on a daily basis, boy, it's going to be a heck of an August around here in terms of how many players you claim and how many you don't claim. "A lot of players get claimed every day. Why is this a big deal?"

Rios is guaranteed nearly $60 million from 2010 to 2014, which would make him a large addition to any team. [READ]
