Oakland Remains A Suitor For The Big Hurt

Oakland Tribune - The A's are still monitoring the health of free agent Frank Thomas. There remains mutual interest by both sides to bring Thomas to Oakland. A medical report on the slugger's ankle is due later this month or early February.

If the A's sign Thomas, general manager Billy Beane has said it doesn't mean another player, such as outfielder Jay Payton, would need to be traded. [READ]
