Damon Looking For 'Fair Market Value'

New York Daily News - Johnny Damon wants to return to the Yankees, but is looking for contractual stability as well.

"His durability is off the charts," agent Scott Boras said. "Chronological age does not have anything to do with a player of his genetics. Certainly you have to look at the Yankees' history and what they've paid players of his like age who maybe did not have his genetics."

Damon has appeared in 140-plus games in 14 straight seasons.

Boras wants to see the Yankees give Damon a deal similar to the ones they awarded Jorge Posada (four years, $52.4 million) and Mariano Rivera (three years, $45 million) in recent offseasons.

"Every player wants his fair market value, and the New York Yankees have a history of paying players fair market value," Boras said. "I don't think any player wants to be the outlier for how they've treated other players." [READ]
