Mets Want To Act Quickly With Bay

New York Daily News - The Mets expect the next few days to determine whether or not they'll sign free-agent outfielder Jason Bay.

"I think it will sort itself out this week," a person familiar with the team's thinking told the New York Daily News.

Bay rejected a four-year deal worth a reported $60 million from the Red Sox over the weekend and he's known to be looking for a fifth year.

It's not currently known whether or not the Mets are willing to offer Bay a five-year pact. New York is believed to have offered Bay a four-year deal worth around $65 million.

After rejecting Boston's offer, Bay appears to be set on changing teams. [READ]
