Mets Still Considering Smoltz

New York Daily News - The Mets are still looking at free-agent John Smoltz to fortify their thin starting rotation.

In addition to deciding between Smoltz, Ben Sheets and Jon Garland as pitching options, the Mets are contemplating whether to sign free-agent catcher Yorvit Torrealba or Rod Barajas.

Team insiders told the New York Daily News that the Mets have been particularly active in dialogue with the Smoltz's representatives and would use him as a starter. [READ]
