Red Sox Inform MLB Manny Won't Play In All-Star Game
5th July, 2006 - 12:40 pm
Boston Herald - The Red Sox officially informed Major League Baseball that Manny Ramirez will not take part in the All-Star Game next Tuesday due to a sore right knee.

Manager Terry Francona said that for the past week he would prefer to see the slugger sit out the game in order to get three days of rest for the knee.

Francona told Major League Baseball officials that Ramirez won’t be playing but has yet to receive return confirmation.

“To be honest, I’m not quite sure what the holdup is,” he said. “I’ve tried for a while now to make it known. I don’t know if it’s political red tape or what, but it’s bogged down. I think the three days (off) are huge for him.” [READ]
