Jays To Finalize 2008 Budget Before Extending Wells

Toronto Sun - The Blue Jays have been stalling on an extension for centerfielder Vernon Wells.

"The club would love to keep Vernon here long term," Jays president Paul Godfrey said. "Hopefully we can work it out. Vernon is a fan favourite and a favourite of management."

"We don't have our budget finalized for 2008," Godfrey said. "Vernon is signed for 2007, so we have to have our budget for 2008 from ownership before we can approach Vernon." [READ]
