Jays Deal Schoenweis To Reds

Canadian Press - Toronto Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi completed the trade of reliever Scott Schoeneweis to the Cincinnati Reds for a player to be named was made with an eye toward 2007.

By moving the lefty specialist, who is making $2.75 million US in the second year of a $5.25 million deal, the Blue Jays save themselves about $600,000 they plan to use in the off-season.

"With the situation we're in, we had to look at some areas where we could help ourselves next year without taking away from this year," said Ricciardi. "That extra money could come in handy." [READ]
