Yankee Prospect Sanchez Goes Down; Pavano Has Mild Strain

WLNS.com - Yankee right-handed pitching prospect Humberto Sanchez had surgery to replace his elbow ligament and will miss the rest of the season. Sanchez was acquired in the off-season when the Yankees traded Gary Sheffield to the Tigers.

An MRI revealed that starter Carl Pavano has only a mild strain in his right elbow. He is expected to begin throwing off flat ground within a week in preparation for a return to the Yankee rotation. [READ]
