Jeter Exits Early After Being Hit By Pitch

Press Release - Derek Jeter left Monday's game at Tampa Bay after being struck by a pitch in the first inning.

The shortstop was hit squarely on his left leg, just above the knee, by a Scott Kazmir offering. He remained in the game and took his base, but was stranded at second when Jason Giambi struck out swinging to end the inning.

Jeter was replaced by Miguel Cairo on defense to begin the second inning. He was diagnosed with a bruised left thigh and is listed as day-to-day. [READ]
