| 17th June, 2007 - 6:40 pm | Houston Chronicle - Roger Clemens, who had the freedom to be away from the Astros when he wasn't pitching and has that same freedom with the New York Yankees, stuck around New York during the Yankees' series against the Arizona Diamondbacks even though he didn't start in that series.
After three years in the National League, Clemens even helped during the pre-series scouting meeting by providing some of his notes.
"I'm having a chance to visit with my teammates, young and old," Clemens told the New York media.
Clemens' freedom to leave was never an issue with the Astros, and Yankees manager Joe Torre isn't worried about the freedom clause, either. Moreover, Clemens made it clear last month in the Chronicle that he has a little bit more of a luxury to be away from home because his two older boys are out of the house and the two younger ones aren't quite at the age where they'll be leaving the house any time soon.
