Cashman Won't Deal Hughes, Kennedy Or Chamberlain

New York Times - Brian Cashman named pitchers Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy and Joba Chamberlain as prospects he wanted to keep, and there are others in the organization, including Alan Horne and Dellin Betances, who are also considered off limits.

Manager Joe Torre said he understood the importance of protecting long-term assets, even though he is in the last year of his contract and probably needs to win to save his job.

“My future is unimportant,” Torre said. “I have never looked at the organization and felt they should do something just to make my life easier. I’ve been a lot less secure in other places and just felt the right thing is the right thing.” [READ]
