| 14th July, 2007 - 10:36 am | Newsday - Jorge Posada, who on Thursday said he plans to explore free agency, did not mince his words Friday. The catcher will not re-sign with the Yankees during the season, even if they try to give him a contract extension.
"Even if my agents [Sam and Seth Levinson] told me [the Yankees] offered me what I wanted, I'm not going to sign now," Posada said. "No matter what."
A report Friday said that the Yankees are trying to reach out to the agents of Posada and Mariano Rivera regarding extensions, now that they have changed their stance on negotiating with Alex Rodriguez in-season.
"I'm not going to do anything during the season, and it's because of this," Posada said, meaning the questions. [READ] |
