Torre, Steinbrenner Do Quiet Lunch

Newsday - Joe Torre knows George Steinbrenner isn't happy with the Yankees' record. But if he is angry with Torre, Steinbrenner didn't say so when the two shared lunch Friday in Tampa, along with Steinbrenner's son Hal and son-in-law Felix Lopez.

"We talked a little bit about the game," Torre said, "just in generalities."

Torre said Steinbrenner did not say a word about his future. A successor to Steinbrenner is no longer clear, now that his daughter, Jenny, is getting divorced from would-be successor Steve Swindal. Hal Steinbrenner and Lopez accompanied Steinbrenner on Friday, but Hank Steinbrenner is also involved.
