Hughes Impressive In Double-A Start

TrentonThunder.com - he Thunder pounded out 13 hits and got an assist for N.Y. Yankees RHP Phil Hughes, who worked four innings in his 2nd rehab start, in a 5-1 win over the Binghamton Mets on Wednesday afternoon.

Hughes allowed one run on the afternoon on two hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Binghamton (41-53) got a 1st Inning run off Hughes as LF Cory Coles doubled to start the game. He then stole 3rd base and scored on a throwing error by C Dan Conway. Trenton (61-34) came back to grab a 3-1 lead off B-Mets starter Jose Sanchez in the 2nd Inning. The Mets allowed an error to keep the innings alive and then the Thunder got back-to-back RBI doubles from 3B Carlos Mendoza and 2B Gabe Lopez for the lead. SS Alberto Gonzalez added an RBI single later in the inning for a 3-1 cushion. Sanchez (2-5) took the loss allowing three runs (all unearned) in four innings. [READ]
