Yankees Put Chamberlain Beside Clemens In Locker Room

New York Times - Reliever Joba Chamberlain settled into the clubhouse at Yankee Stadium yesterday, with a locker on the back wall next to Roger Clemens’s stall.

“This is where they put me,” Chamberlain said. “I couldn’t write it any better than what’s gone on. I’m pretty fortunate. I’ve got a great person next to me to pick his brain a little bit.”

Chamberlain was available to pitch last night; he had two days’ rest after his two-inning stint Friday. The Yankees have agreed to give him one day off for each inning he pitches, a guideline he said made sense, considering he had made only four relief appearances in his life, the last two under the kind of stress experienced only in the majors.
