| 14th September, 2007 - 12:58 pm | Newsday - Two things that could add to the excitment at Fenway this weekend are the return of Roger Clemens and the Boston debut of reliever Joba Chamberlain, who has yet to allow an earned run in 16 innings. Boston fans love to jeer former Red Sox star Clemens, but in Chamberlain's case, what might seize the attention of the fans is an incident last month in which he threw two consecutive fastballs over Kevin Youkilis' head. Chamberlain, who was suspended for two games, says it was not on purpose.
"It never happened," he said. "It didn't happen, to me. It's over with. We live in the present, not in the past."
Chamberlain said he is "not at all" concerned about any type of lingering effects from the incident. Youkilis, who was hit in the head by a Scott Proctor pitch earlier this season, told The Boston Globe: "I suppose they don't like me for whatever. I don't know. Maybe they're mad at me. People can say what they want. I've never done anything to that team. I've never said anything to that team. I play hard. I play the game." [READ] |
