Yankees Could Hire Manager This Week?

ESPN.com - The Yankees could hire a new manager by the end of this week.

"It's possible,'' Hank Steinbrenner said Wednesday, adding that the process could extend longer. "We want to get it done as soon as possible.''

A source tells ESPN the Magazine's Buster Olney that it "is a good bet" that the Yankees will name the team's next manager on Friday -- the off day between World Series Games 2 and 3. Teams aren't allowed to announce moves during the World Series, but the Yankees could ask commissioner Bud Selig for permission. [READ]
