| 8th November, 2007 - 8:21 am | New York Daily News - A star third baseman not named Alex Rodriguez is creating the biggest buzz at baseball's general managers' meetings.
At least 10 teams, including the Yankees, have contacted Florida looking to take Miguel Cabrera off the Marlins' hands.
The 24-year-old Cabrera has slugged his way through the league since breaking into the majors in 2003. Cabrera has a .313 average, 138 homers and 523 RBI in 4-1/2 years, putting his stats in the same neighborhood as Rodriguez's during the same stretch to open his career.
The Angels, Dodgers and Giants have plenty of young players to offer the Marlins, and each of the three West Coast teams is in the market for a big-hitting third baseman. The Red Sox and White Sox are also believed to be interested in Cabrera. [READ] |
