Dodgers Now The Front-Runners For Cabrera

FoxSports - The Angels no longer are the front-runners for Miguel Cabrera.

The Dodgers stand a better chance of acquiring Cabrera from the Marlins, major-league sources say, if they are willing to part with outfielder Matt Kemp along with third baseman Andy LaRoche and Class AA left-hander Clayton Kershaw.

The Cabrera sweepstakes heated up again Monday as news broke that the Red Sox were close to re-signing free-agent Mike Lowell and the Angels had traded shortstop Orlando Cabrera to the White Sox for right-hander Jon Garland.

The Dodgers had been interested in Lowell, and the Angels' need for offense became even more acute after they subtracted Orlando Cabrera. Now that Alex Rodriguez is headed back to the Yankees, Miguel Cabrera is by far the best third baseman available — and both southern California teams have a need at third. [READ]
