| 10th January, 2008 - 9:32 am | Arizona Central - The Diamondbacks have had brief discussions with the representative for reliever Brandon Lyon about a multiyear contract, but agent Barry Meister said the sides have some hurdles to overcome if a deal is to be reached.
"I think the task for both of us will be to determine what a fair long-term (deal) would be in light of the fact that Brandon's role may substantially change," Meister said. "That may work against us doing a long-term."
Lyon, along with right-hander Tony Peña, is a candidate to take over as closer for Jose Valverde, who was dealt to Houston last month.
Lyon is eligible for arbitration this year and can become a free agent after the season. [READ] |
