Hamels Upset With Contract Renewal

The Philadelphia Inquirer - Cole Hamels is upset that he couldn't come to terms with the Phillies on a new deal, which allowed the team to renew his contract for just $500,000, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"It was a low blow," Hamels said on Sunday.

Not surprisingly, Phillies GM Pat Gillick disagrees.

"I think the one thing about us is that we treat people as fairly as possible," Phillies general manager Pat Gillick said. "We think he's been treated very fairly. That's basically all we can do - try to do our responsibility to the player. And the figure we renewed him at, we think it's appropriate."

Hamels had a season FIC of 226 and 'deserved' a salary of $11 million, giving him a +2,650% Reina Value. [READ]
