Giants president Larry Baer has declined to reveal whether or not the team had made Manny Ramirez a formal offer, but they are believed to be a player.
San Francisco could reportedly offer Ramirez a deal longer than two years, that also allows both sides to end the pact early if they so choose.
On Thursday, Ramirez and agent Scott Boras turned down a two-year, $45 million deal from the Dodgers.

Bobby Evans, the Giants' vice president of baseball operations, has said all spring that a multi-year deal for Tim Lincecum could be explored later but was not a high priority this spring. Lincecum's agent, Rick Thurman, said that was fine and his client will make $650,000 in 2009.
"If they come to us and talk about a multiyear deal, we'll certainly listen," Thurman said. "But it wasn't a big part of our conversation."
"I think it's fair what I got," said Lincecum. "I'm not saying I got gypped at all. I'm happy with what I got. Now I've just to live up to that expectation. You see pay increases and you expect results. That's what happens from the fan standpoint. Now I've just got to push it, I guess."

Giants president Larry Baer said he exchanged messages with agent Scott Boras on Wednesday in regards to Manny Ramirez.
“We haven’t been asked to make an offer in the last couple of days,” Baer said. “I don’t want to characterize it beyond that. People are saying it’s accelerated (with the Dodgers). I can’t tell you there’s any difference today than a week ago. There may be, but it hasn’t been communicated to us.”
Asked pointedly if the Giants had made an offer at any stage, Baer said,
“We’ve talked about it till we’re literally blue in the face – Dodger blue in the face – that we’ve been in communication with them about concepts. It hasn’t been pushed beyond that.”
